Born in Udział in the Braslaw region on 19 April 1933 as the oldest of eight siblings. Before World War II, she completed four forms of a Polish school. Her father was killed in 1944. Teresa Szymko worked at a kolkhoz for two years, then, at a factory. She spent a few years as a postulant at the Eucharist Sisters’ Convent in Braslaw. She did not make monastic vows. Since 1961 she had been a priest’s housekeeper in Miory for 25 years; she also gave religious instruction lessons. In 1993, she adopted four children. She lives with them in the former parish building which she was given after the priest’s death. She is retired.
